Tom DeLay was indicted in the Campaign Finance Probe.
I can't believe how happy I am about this. Corruption and unethical practices are everywhere, but it is very refreshing to see it come up and bite someone back...hard. Since hearing about DeLay's indictment, I've been repeatedly visiting the websites of Focus On The Family, American Family Association, Family Research Council, and Concerned Women Of America to see if they have made any statements regarding DeLay's, shall we say, fall from grace. As of now, there is nothing concerning DeLay's indictment posted on any of their websites, but it is going to be interesting if they are going to support this guy, or instead run for the tall grass. It's ironic how a guy who's overly concerned about "moral" issues was "allegedly" involved in an unethical scandal such as this. I wonder, was he unethical for Jesus?
I guess this is the beginning of a soap opera in Washington...and I wonder how it will play out. Will DeLay be found guilty? If so, will he face a prison sentence, or will he be simply forced out of politics?
This is eerily similar to the whole Watergate scandal in the early 70's.
This is going to be interesting. I'll take notes.

FRC on House Majority Leader Tom DeLay
Sept. 28 - FRC Pres. Tony Perkins has released the following statement after a Texas grand jury indicted House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) today:
We must all remember that in this country you are innocent until proven guilty.
DeLay has been a stalwart friend of the family, and FRC is not a fair-weather friend. He is a great leader for pro-family public policies of enduring importance to the nation. Many Democrats want to turn the indictment of Tom DeLay into an indictment of the ideas he champions. Partisan or ideological exploitation of a matter that is now in the judicial process is wholly irresponsible. Our prayers go with him and his family at this difficult time.
BTW, no rush on the meme - but it will be interesting to read :)
